Blockchain consultant Marloes Pomp is the new CEO of WordProof. She takes over from Sebastiaan van der Lans who founded WordProof in 2019. Sebastiaan will remain with WordProof in the role of COO and will thus be responsible for the day-to-day operations. Marloes will mainly focus on the legislative processes around the safe internet in Europe.
WordProof’s mission is to realize a safer internet where transparency and accountability will ensure increased trust on the internet. WordProof achieves this by timestamping internet content. In 2020 WordProof already won € 1 million from the European Commission inits “Blockchains for social good” competition.
Europe is working on far-reaching legislation to increase security and reliability on the internet. “WordProof wants to play a pioneering role here with its Timestamp Ecosystem,” says Sebastiaan van der Lans. “Because this is about complex legislative processes that we want to be involved in, we have found someone in Marloes Pomp who not only understands in a broad sense what blockchain is and how it can be used for good, she also understands like no other the inscrutable paths of laws and regulations.”

Besides the development of plugins and WordProof integration into existing plugins and platforms in the coming months, WordProof will explicitly pay attention to legislative and regulatory processes because, following GDPR, timestamping will also become a standard of the future.
About Marloes Pomp
Marloes her professional interests focus on new technologies in the public domain. Marloes has set up many Blockchain, AI, and Immersive tech projects within the Dutch government. In addition, she has been training management teams in new technologies for 10 years. Marloes also works as an advisor at the Netherlands AI Coalition and the Dutch Blockchain Coalition. Both coalitions are jointly developed partnerships by government, industry, and knowledge institutions.
Currently, Marloes is CEO of WordProof. WordProof wants to create a new standard for a more reliable and trustworthy internet, with the help of blockchain technology. In addition, she serves as an advisory member for the SIDN Fund, the Dutch Court, The Blockchain and the Society Board of the University of Amsterdam (VU) and several startups. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the European AI Forum, a platform where entrepreneurs and policymakers get together to jointly determine the path forward for European AI innovation.
